The Hutto Women’s Alliance (HWA) cares deeply about the health, well-being, and success of women in our community. Throughout the year, we work to create opportunities that bring women together, increase awareness around issues that matter, and connect local women with resources and support.
That’s why we’re excited to welcome Lone Star Circle of Care’s Big Pink Bus to Hutto on Saturday, November 7th!
What Is The Big Pink Bus?
The Big Pink Bus is a mobile breast cancer screening clinic operated by Lone Star Circle of Care. It travels throughout Central Texas to make early breast cancer detection more accessible to women in local communities.
The bus provides low-cost 3-D digital screening mammography to most women, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
Bringing The Big Pink Bus to Hutto means local women can access an important preventive health service right here in our community without having to travel far for a screening.
Why Does Early Detection Matter?
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women, and early detection can make a tremendous difference.
When breast cancer is caught early, a woman’s 5-year survival rate is over 90%.
If you are a woman age 40 or older, talk with your healthcare provider about regular screening mammography and what screening schedule is right for you.
Who Can Be Screened on The Big Pink Bus?
You may be eligible for a screening mammogram on The Big Pink Bus if you:
Are 40 years of age or older
Are uninsured or have coverage through MAP, MAP Basic, or select commercial insurance
Have not had a mammogram within the last 365 days
Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
Are not currently experiencing breast symptoms, such as a lump, discharge, or pain
Can independently walk up and down stairs
Mobile mammography isn't right for everyone. If you are experiencing breast pain, a lump, nipple discharge, or another breast concern, please speak with your healthcare provider. You may need a different type of diagnostic imaging or evaluation.
And if you don't have health insurance, don't let that stop you from exploring your options. Lone Star Circle of Care can determine whether you may qualify for a sliding fee scale or other programs that can help pay for your screening mammogram.
How to Register
If you meet the screening requirements, we encourage you to register in advance.
Simply fill out the registration form and follow the instructions provided.

And we're not stopping at women's health!
Following The Big Pink Bus event, HWA will host our Fall Fundraiser: Pink Feathered Ladies Crawl from 3:00–8:30 PM.
